Hier sind einige Kommentare über Torkel´s DVD von seinem Nachbarn Mats Erik Engelsvoll:

Torkel did 402.5 kg in his gym. So it wasn't official.
His last official world record (he made LOADS of those from 1968 - 71), he did 375 kg.
And I have the video of him competing with Don Cundy. Torkel won.
It's all on his DVD.

Torkel did strongmanshows for over 40 years, and I bet there wasn't a single spot in Norway Torkel didn't visit.

And yeah, the dvd is great. It shows what Torkel was known for; Great charm and humour and an incredible strength.
He did it all; drove nails, bent horseshoes, lifted cars (his fav.), bent huge square steelbars etc etc etc.
I once saw he lifted the back of a Honda 2CV with one hand.
He also used to "lift footballteams up to 1st division" as Torkel himself put it Did it as a backlift.

The best parts on the dvd is that they show two whole strongmanshows; Viking '83 and European Strongest Man '84 (among the other contestants was the famous Geoff Capes).
What Torkel did best was, not surprisingly, carlifting. Knocked em all out.

Torkel had to quit in the year of 2000 during a tour. He had a bad asthma that only got worse.
He died 13.September 2004.

Svend Karlsen told some very interesting stories about his friendship with Torkel on the DVD, as Torkel was the one who motivated Svend when he started training
